Message from our Vice President

Wow! What a great weekend in Perth at the Australian Rotaract Conference. Along for the ride with me was Nishy, Drew and Teneal, Bec W, Daniel and Leigh, Gus and Sean, and Sherlene! The weekend was fantastic for networking and learning about other Rotaract Clubs, listening to some inspiring guest speakers, and enjoying the sights of Perth and Fremantle. Hear all about it at the next meeting.

7th October

Dear Members and friends of Sydney City Rotaract,

1 week till the Australian Rotaract Conference and 3 weeks till the Nepal Trip. October is going to be a big month for Sydney City Rotaract! I would like to give my best wishes to all those going to the conference and going to Nepal and representing our Club nationally and internationally.

Also we have new digs for our meetings now we are meeting at the MLC building on level 16. Remember if you are later than 7pm just meet us at Bar 333.

Volunteer organisations are only as good as the time and effort of individuals put in completely selflessly. Four events over the last month has shown some exceptional people getting involved and making a magnificent difference and really helping out community.

We have a lot of great events and projects coming up in the near future. ARC is just around the corner, and is going to be an exceptional weekend full of opportunities to make new friends, catch up with old ones, and party like it's 1999!

Dear Members and friends of Sydney City Rotaract,

Thank you to all who attended our Nepalese Charity Gala Dinner on Saturday night, which was a huge success with all tickets sold. The funds raised will support two micro-credit projects that are empowering women and communities in Kavre and Hetauda, organised by local organisations Laskar Nepal and the Rotary Club of Hetauda.

Secretary Of Sydney City Rotaract:

26th August 2013

Dear Members and friends of Sydney City Rotaract,

Thank you to all who attended our Blood donation and dinner. We all went and had dinner afterwards at Menya which was a lot of fun.

Last week our movie night was also on. Members went to see the movie "Now You See Me", an exciting crime thriller which left everyone on the edge of their seats. Funds raised through this event will be going toward our Kiva Micro-Finance fund.

Dear Members and friends of Sydney City Rotaract,

Thank you to all who attended our Bring a Friend Bowling Night Last Week. It was a great success and a new legacy has been started, with the winner getting the name engraved on a bowling pin. The night was a great opportunity to bond with friends new and old.

We have our blood donation and social dinner coming up tomorrow. Those who are not able to donate blood are still welcome to come along to social dinner at Daruma afterwards.

Thank you to all who have participated in the events held over the past week.

These included a recruitment drive held on Thursday evening at UTS, with several interested potential members attending. A presentation was given on Sydney City Rotaract, its projects, and the benefits of participating.

We have a lot of great events coming up on our calendar, including our Nepalese charity Gala Dinner,which will support two micro-credit projects that are empowering women and communities in Kavre & Hetauda, organised by local organisations Laskar Nepal & the Rotary Club of Hetauda.  This is a great opportunity to immerse yourself in the wonders of the Nepalese culture and learn how micro-credit is changing lives around the world.

Thank you to all who ateneded our last meeting, we had a great turnout and it was wonderful to see some new faces among the crowd and everyone actively contributing in the committee breakout sessions that were held.

We have a jam packed calendar with a great line up of events approaching, the next of which will be the blood donation dinner on the 31st of July. Even if you can't give blood, it would be great to see you at the social dinner afterward. Details below.

We have a big year ahead but none of the plans will be possible without all our members getting involved. If you all remember back to your induction day the key words were “The more you put into Rotaract to more you will get out of Rotaract”. There are three ways in which you can get involved with Rotaract:

Our changeover on Saturday night was a roaring success and I would like to thank everyone who attended. For more information on this event please see below.

We look forward to seeing our members at the upcoming bookclub on Sunday which will be on the International Bank of Bob. We have recently hit 3,000 loans for our club, which is a great achievement.
