Newsletter for 21/07/2015

People of Earth,

Certain Clubs see the weather in Sydney as it is and ask "Why?". Certain clubs see the much colder weather in the Blue Mountains and ask "Why not?". As you're looking for clues to work out which one of the two categories Sydney City Rotaract fits into, I'd like to take this opportunity to point out that we have two spots remaining for the Winter Weekend Away!

If you've got nothing planned for the weekend, or if you have plans but aren't that enthused about them, I'd encourage you to attend. Book your tickets here, unless you hate fun.

Upcoming Events

Winter Weekend Away - Blue Mountains Christmas in July - 24/7/2015

Sydney City Rotaract's Weekend Away is one of the club's most popular events. This year, we will have more than one! Get ready to head out to the Blue Mountains for a Christmas in July celebration.

We have rented a cottage for about 12 people and hope you want to be one of them. Bring your board games and cheer!

Community Committee Meeting - 30/07/2015

The new Rotary year has begun, and so the courageous Community Committee must meet to discuss the years Upcoming Events, new service opportunities and other projects.

If you're interested in participating in the Community Service portfolio this year, it would be great to see you there.

SCR's Changeover Celebration! - 31/07/2015

It's Sydney City Rotaract's Premier Night! Come and celebrate the success of our club over the past year and welcome in our new board!

We are hosting a Cocktail Function rather than a sit-down meal to encourage interaction between Rotaractors, Rotarians and special guests.

We'd like to see as many family members, external guests and representatives as the building can possibly fit! Buy your tickets at

First Friday @ Five - 07/08/2015

On the first Friday of each month, come and join the Rotary Club of Sydney Cove for drinks!

No formalities, no agenda. Just getting to know each other and providing an environment from where new friendships and ideas may develop. Just drop in and have a chat or stay for a meal.

If you'd like to attend, register at

City 2 Surf Volunteering - 08/08/2015

Its that wonderful day of year where the city comes together to work off last years cake consumption, and feel less guilty about doubling that cake consumption for the next. That’s right, the City to Surf is on again!

Our friends in Rotary have asked us for a few intrepid volunteers to help marshal the event (manning water stations, keeping runners on track, etc)

Final Thoughts

Winston Churchill found so much enjoyment and relaxation in laying bricks he even joined and paid dues in the Bricklayer's Union. He even inquired in a letter "is there is a rule regulating the number of bricks which a man may lay a day?…and what are the restrictions on overtime?"

Well, that's it from me. Don't forget that our next meeting is on tomorrow, the 22nd of July, at the Tresscox Lawyers Offices, starting at 6.30PM. For more information, including a map and a full agenda, please visit

Until Next time,
