On Saturday 17 April 2010 Sydney City Rotaract held its annual fundraising Ball at the Sydney Harbour Marriott Hotel. The night was a roaring success with great live music, dancing and fabulous representative guest speakers from PolioPlus and Wototo Australiasia. Guests really got into the spirit with masks ranging from the exotic to the outrageous! Special mention goes to Josmery Ramirez, Ambasadorial Scholar from Texas, whose intricate painted on mask won admiration across the ballroom and took the prize for Best (female) Masquerader. Davin Tham won the best (male) Masquerader.
A total of 125 guests were in attendance and we raised over $5000 for the Watoto orphans - making a difference to the life of kids in South Africa and supporting the global eradication of Polio with Rotary International.
The night will not have been a success without the generous support and donations from the Rotary Club of Maroubra, Rotary Club of Sydney and Rotary Club of Sydney CBD. Special thanks also go to Rotarians Garry Browne, Joe Botta, Mark Dyer, John D’Alessandri, Cristina Guterez, and Paul Ward-Harvey and last but not least all guests that made the effort to attend the evening to support the Club, making it the great success it was.
Sydney City Rotaract is planning another Ball for 2011 - to coincide with the Club's 10th anniversary - so we hope to see you all there!
