Hi everyone,

First of all, I hope that you've all had a very Merry Christmas and a happy New Year, as well as a bit of break. 2011 was a terrific year and, if we keep up our current momentum, 2012 should reach absolutely record breaking levels of awesome.

As you may or may not be aware, certain members of the club are currently working update the club's website. A lot of things will remain the same, but we're using this as an opportunity to more visibly tie events to ongoing projects, make it easier for members of the club to track the club, add some new functionality that we're pretty keen to make use of, and rework a lot of the content to make the club seem friendlier and more open (which, of course, we are. We're just trying to make that a bit more obvious). If you'd...

Hi guys,
I hope you're all enjoying the lead up to Christmas. Personally, I have been sneaking into toy stores all week and rearranging displays, as part of my ongoing efforts to convince people that Toy Story was factually accurate.

Anyway, the club has a few events coming up that I would like to bring to your attention.

Firstly, on Tuesday, a few members will be meeting to discuss the website. I will be rebuilding the website entirely other the Christmas period and, while a lot of things will stay the same, it is a good time to add some new functions, and change some things that could be made better. If you would like to offer any suggestions for this process, please email me at drew@sturgiss.com.au
Also, if you are particularly interested in the...

Chinese Garden of Friendship
Chinese Garden of Friendship
Sydney, NSW 2000
Australia

The Chinese Garden of Friendship is nestled at the south end of Darling Harbour and a short walk from Chinatown. Entering the gardens is like walking backwards in time into the quiet solitude of Chinese architecture and it's relationship with nature. The garden combines the elements of water, plants, stone and architecture.

Running water, towering willow trees, cool lagoons with lotus plants and large colourful fish all make this an idyllic spot to read a book or recharge your batteries. It really is something special. The gardens occupy several acres combining waterfalls, lakes, pavilions, sculpture and animals, the fish and the ibis.

The key features to look out for are the Courtyard of Welcoming Fragrance, Dragon Wall, Water Pavilion of Lotus Fragrance, Twin...

Sydney City Rotaract attended an exquisite Thanksgiving function on the 26th November, hosted by The Darling’s Rotary Club.  The Darling’s annually host an event centred around a particular country and this year they decided to celebrate all things American, naming the evening 'The Story of Old Glory: A Taste of America'.  The Transatlantic flavoured entertainment, food and festivities were amazing and of course we all had a lot to be thankful for.
